Celso Alvarado
Lead Instructor
Celso Alvarado is the founder of QSI (www.globalventures.com); a USA-based company that has granted ISO management system certificates in over 12 countries.
Mr. Alvarado has over 30 years of experience applying continual improvement methodologies and ISO management standards in various sectors. He has been an accredited for more than 20 years as an Expert Delegate to represent the United States internationally on working groups of Technical Committees TC 176, TC 207 and CASCO, through which he has contributed to the development of several management standards, among which are documents of the ISO 9000, ISO 14000, 17000, ISO 22000, ISO 19011 series, among others.
Mr. Alvarado was a member of the Board of Directors of the IATCA - an organization that defined, developed and published the criteria that are currently used worldwide for the Auditor and Lead Auditor courses.
He obtained his BS Degree in Chemical Engineering from NJIT (New Jersey Institute of Technology) and holds a Masters Degree in Management and International Business from the University of Miami.
Before founding QSI, he worked for more than 10 years as a Quality Engineer, Quality Manager and Representative of the ISO Directorate in research / development and manufacturing organizations for companies. such as PepsiCo (Valhala, NY), Exxon Chemical Co. (Linden, NJ).
Mr. Alvarado is highly requested as an presenter/instructor for his experience interpreting and applying the requirements of the ISO management standards in non-manufacturing settings, such as in the banking sector, government entities, etc. Below are some examples of his training experiences:
- Lead Auditor for the ISO 9001 diagnosis carried out at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) - Washington, D.C.
- Lead Instructor for ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 of safety and environment experts in the Panama Canal Authority.
- Lead Auditor for ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 for third party audits at Edwards Life Sciences in Irvine, California and multiple sites world-wide.
- Lead Instructor for ISO/IEC 13485 Auditor and Lead Auditor Training for Medtronic in various sites.
- Lead Auditor for the ISO 9001 certification of the American Embassy in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
In 2003 Mr. Alvarado sought to optimize his skills and contribution to the development of ISO standards by pursuing post-graduate studies at Harvard Law School, with a specialty in "Negotiation and Mediation" and another in "Training of Negotiators".
By special invitation Mr. Alvarado also carried out postgraduate studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where he specialized in "Technology and its Relationship with Law and Public Policy".
Due to the surge in the use of information technology solutions for management systems, he was appointed by ISO as an expert for the drafting of the ISO / IAF / APG standard for "Auditing electronic management systems" - work that was presented and approved for the International use in Taipei, Taiwan in March 2005.
He has been an speaker at various conferences, symposiums and international events in places such as, Berlin, Shanghai, Seoul, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur, Rome, among several other cities in the world.
Today he operates from the QSI headquarters in Orlando, Florida and in addition to his routine audit and training activities, he continues to periodically volunteer on the ISO committees for the improvement of standards and the deployment of best management practices internationally.
